Election aftermath

Marvin P. Pascua

Dust has alighted, the gaiety is over.  The election is finally concluded, and now the nation can finally settle back to the serious business of living life again – the normal task of everyday living that is. Tenses also gave way to calmness, to those who lose, even more to those won. Finally settled and done with the mudslinging, the singing and dancing on stage, the endless debates laced with insults and counter insults to the delight of the insatiable audience who wanted “more, more!”  And now the aftermath.

Perhaps, the most promising award for a subordinate in a co-terminous office is the success of his superior. When success comes in, the corresponding blissful emotion is there. Such was definitely the intuition of the staff of BM Olive who long waited for the result of sovereign verdict; the verdict which ended very recently with an overwhelming victory; the end which placed everything into a beginning; and a beginning which brought everything into its normal course. Thus, all systems in the office were placed in a default mode- short of saying that the office was made to transact in the usual course of its business.

Now that things are as they were, the staff of BM Olive undauntedly faced the resumption of the usual course of business in their office. Just a few days after the result of the elections, the fully rejuvenated and reverberated employees made new changes in the office premises- done through the initiative of the Honorable 2nd Term Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual.

Notably, BM Olive and two other United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) ally candidates recently won a landslide victory over their lone Liberal Party opponent. BM Olive placed second of the three slots for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan position on a platform to improve health services especially to the needy- problems most faced by some unfortunates which often need favorable attention. This is in conjunction with her chairmanship in the Committee on Health.

Accordingly, as problems regarding health are proliferating and unstoppable, she is also looking forward in crafting practicable remedies. Optimistically, these remedies will soon, to a certain extent solve the problems of her constituents, resulting consequentially in the decrease of some minor predicaments in the province.

Also, as part of her plan to thrive up services that will be catered to her constituents, BM Olive had set plans to improve public service. This, according to her, can be achieved by ameliorating customer relations and enacting practicable and useful pieces of legislation. In working this out, the people will surely benefit with a corresponding positive image in the eyes of the clientele and a priceless satisfaction on the part of the public servant.

As she had done recently, BM Olive was able to get through significant pieces of legislation which brought profound changes to the entire province of Cagayan. In her first three years, her office did not waste time and public money in useless extravagance. In fact, hers is one of the busiest, hospitable and workable offices in Sangguniang Panlalawigan premises. But this, according to her is not yet enough. She still needs to improve a lot, farther than what she had done previously.

Thus, catering the people wholeheartedly by rendering unselfishly any practicable form of assistance is a never ending goal of BM Olive. This, according to her is one of the several reasons why she retained and was not unseated as a public servant. As such, part of giving back what she received as a reward from the sovereign, is to pay them back with a quality public service. Accordingly, now that business is fully on its vein, the clients will expect a standardized and optimized quality of service.
